You have to experiment with the “tooth” and “roughness / smoothness” of each type of paper to see if it suits your style of drawing and the types of drawing media you are using. It is usually better suited for tracing or drafting, and for using pen and ink… I think it has to do with the fibers not really catching the graphite and allowing it to sink into the paper (some vellum can be almost “plastic” in texture). Vellum can be very slick and unpredictable because of the surface. Should I just try using a different kind of paper? What do you reccomend for graphite? Drawings mostly come out looking very coarse, And when i try to blend by using a tissue, Light areas become very blurry, and almost look like gray watercolor, while dark areas get even more coarse.
